97 Rodeo AT comes out of Lockup at 60mph+

Greetings experts,

1997
V6 4x4
120K
tranny

I recently had AT rebuilt. Shifting seems ok when driving 60 or below; no slipping. However when going above 60 mph, it feels and sounds as if AT is coming out of lockup. For example: After accelerating up to 65 and putting it on cruise control, the odometer jumps from 2.2 to 3 rpm. In other words, ( i believe) AT comes out of lockup...when it shouldnt-on a flat road or going downhill.

Originally the tran shop said to replace TPS, which i did but it did not solve the proble. Brought it back to shop after receiving Torque Converter Slipping code and according to them they replaced torque converter. Aamco suggested i verify shop replaced the clutch valve cylinder inside the tranny. However, i think the shop will say they did regardless.

I read alot of the AT threads on here and also did a seaarch but could not find anything relating to this. Please let me know if you feel I may have overlooked something.

Thanks for your help, this is a great forum!

I would start by checking the fluid level. If it is to low it can cause this.

Thank you for the advice; I will do so this evening and let you know. Have a great day.

in addition to the fluid level, are you saying it only happens when you are in cruise control, and that it only happens when you are in the top gear?
