Looking to Buy

My wife and I are looking to buy a used minivan. For our price range, a 2002-2004 Caravan looks to be an option. There are just so many more of them out there for sale than the better rated vans (Odyssey, Sienna). Are these vans really as bad as the ratings say they are? Should I avoid one like the plague? Thanks.

if you take care of them they are pretty reliable now . If you can afford an 2004 then I would go that route . Have an 2004 and so far in 60000 miles all it has had is the general stuff and 1 EGR valve for a couple hundred dollars. For the most part by 2004 the famous tranny problems have been ironed out , the engines are rock solid , if anything its other stuff likes swaybar bushinhs and links , and some air conditioning problems though i haven't seen anything like that .

so far from what i have seen the best van on the market even used with 100k+ miles is the Odyssey, it really does out perform and last longer than anything i have seen the only issues is you will pay for it unfortunately otherwise i would be driving one instead if the 97 voyager with 64k that i am driving now that as i am finding out has issues that i really dont even want to deal with......good luck on your search though and i suggest carfax reports as a back up because if they say its good and it turns out to be a lemon you are set :)
