Thinking of new engine

ive had a lot of small block chevys and put some big money into them without the result i was looking for, stroker kits and so on.. i bought my first mustang about 6 years ago(1985 5.0 4bbl) and had a local shop put a 347 eagle stroker kit in it. for the money i have to say that there is a night and day difference between the chevy engines ive done and my first ford stroker. I was blown away. Im thinking of ordering an engine to drop into my 95gt and strap my sc on it. i want to stick with fuel injection. Whats the best performance engine for my money? Company? or stick with the block i have and build it up.(which gets just as expencive)

get the dohc 4.6 out of a 2003 or 2004 mustang cobra. they are already built for forced induction and can handle 500whp. i had a 99cobra which had the 320hp dohc and i loved it. i ran a 13.3 with a few bolt on's so i'm sure if you had 500whp you'd be crazy fast.

Chevy small blocks are pretty much the same thing as ford small blocks. It all comes down to getting the car dialed in properly to get the most out of your build. right now the setup i have in my firebird should make 240whp and i should run high 13's. thing is it's not tuned. I'm not gonna get it tuned cause i'm upgrading over the winter and i'll just have to retune it again anyways. Theres a lot of ppl that don't bother fine tuning and always end up disappointed.

I have a $3000 super charger kit on this engine and would like to get a engine i can reinstall it on. i think i would have to change computers also. i do like the cobra engines, ive seen the lower end in them and they are crazy strong.

you should check out a magazine called muscle mustangs & fast fords. they have good articles on blown GT's and on top of that they have a lot of vendors and websites to places that sell all kinds of parts for the sohc GT engines. You can get all kinds of stuff.

This just struck me, your gt is a 95 right? Did you do the heads swap yet to the 99 and up heads?

Good luck just "happening" upon a cheap 4.6 Cobra R engine. Besides, it would need a lot more supporting parts just to make the swap, let alone high power.

Since you already have a '95 GT, it's not a far fetched idea that you could go with a roller 351W. A stroked and blown 302 block is only going to last up to about 550rwhp; 351s(especially the earlier blocks) have bettered that by at least 100hp. With a well-matched aggressive 408, you could see well north of 450rwhp N/A. Since you want to keep the stroker, I personally wouldn't bother with a stroker kit.

Then again, you could just pulley that blower down for more boost. Get either an intercooler or methanol injection and you could split that block in no time.

Hey shapelle, the 4.6 wasn't put in Mustangs until '96. PI heads are hard to swap onto a 5.0. :p

oh your right 95 was still 5.0. shit just keep that 5.0 and build the bottom end. i still think a 2003-2004 cobra motor would be ideal. they are very strong. granted you'd have to get a new engine harness and what not.

If im not mistaking, theres a webbing?? at the lower end of the cobra engines to prevent the block from splitting. am i mistaken or can i use something like that? this supercharger is a f!@#$%^ headache, but i paid 3 grand for it so id like to use it.

i subscribe to mmff i know of many companies i just want to know what you guys think. the good, the bad?

What i am looking for is 500-550hp at the tires. i want good stuff and i want to do it right because i drive that car all the time except winter.

I made about 750hp with my 357ci windsor. That was with a turbo. I made about 600rwhp with a maxed out (14psi) S-trim on my motor. Why is your blower a headache? What about it is giving you trouble? 500rw is easy with the S-trim and your stock short block.

yea i woulda thought a 5.0 would be good for some big numbers.

No, there isn't anything extra. 5.0 Cobra engines have the same roller block as all the 5.0 HOs. 5.8/351W Cobras have the same roller block as all the 5.8 trucks from '94+.

I dont know why this is giving me so many problems. I know! that i have everything installed as it should be. This is my first forced induction engine build, i have the money to use high quality products. plain and simple.....whats next? what part/parts will help the most to get big numbers. You guys are a big help and i get the feeling that this isnt the first time you all have delt with this so im at your mercy what part is next on my list? i have plenty of ideas and parts lists but dont know what will give me the best result.
