So I'm in the Dealership this afternoon picking up my Dakota and i see their price list on the wall. $170 for "transmission service" and $185 for differential service.
So i ask what they do in a Tranny service I'm told they flush the fluid. No they don't replace the filter b/c there's no need to, flushing cleans the filter (WTF). The Diff service is replacing the gear oil that's it. Think about it the tranny service is about $50 in fluid so $130 profit and the Diff service is about $50 for fluid also so that's $135 profit.
What thieves....

Flushing DOES NOT clean the filter. Man I hate people that tell people that. With the prices that the dealer pays it's probably less than $50 Its more like $25 fluid $25 Tech $130 to the owners pocket

My 04 Dakota has 2 transmission filters, one in the Transmission and 1 similar to an oil filter attached to the return line. So how could a "flush" possibly clean 2 filters.
Based on their theory i should be able to flush my engine and that would clean my oil filter.
What's interesting through is IF my tranny goes bad i can prove i had my "transmission service" preformed by the Dealer and they can't claim the filter(s) was not changed as required.
So screw them.

i always find it funny when dealers charge a ton i went to check how much it would cost for a dealer oil change and it was around 50-60$ i kinda forgot just to get a filter that says mopar on it. or i can go to lets say walmart and get it dones for 25$..... well actually it would be less bc i work their.
