The driver's seat will not recline when using the electric seat controls. I can hear the motor, but the seat back does not move. The local BMW dealer said the cable needed to be replaced. Does anyone know the part number for the cable, and how to get to the cable?
This is for a 1998 328i.

I had the same problem and BMW will only try to sell you a new seat frame.
It's not a cable that is broken, but a gear that's in the recline motor and it's very easy to fix. Go to Odometer.COM and they have the gears and instructions to fix the seat. You will have to take the seat out of the car, but it's very straight forward. The one small plastic gears is about $40, but it's alot less than any other alternative.
Good luck! :smokin:
