1992 Jetta Oil Alarm Buzzer

I recently changed the oil on my 92 Jetta and am now receiving an oil pressure alarm light and buzzer if I get above 2000 RPM's and drop back down.

I had initially put in 10-30 weight but a few people told me that 20-50 is better and will fiz the alarm.

Just today I drained the old stuff and threw in the 20-50. But alas, the alarm still goes off. My last oil change I used 10-30 and had no problems.

No oil is dripping onto the ground under my car when left overnight or for a few days so if there is a leak, it must be a minor one.

I was wondering if their is any way to merely disconnect the oil pressure alarms, I bought this car for a grand last year and really dont mind checking the oil more often as long as I can get rid of that damn buzzing.

Any other suggestions as why this alarm might be going off?

You have two pressure sensors for the oil. The sensor on the oil filter mount is probably bad. You can get a new one for about $5.00 on line. When it is bad, you get an alarm if the pressure is low and you exceed 2000 RPM. Start the car and let it idle about 20 minutes and see if you get a flashing oil light without an audible alarm. Then take it to 2000 RPM and see if the alarm sounds. If this happens, it's the sensor.

I´ve The Same Problem, Changed Both Sensors, Checked Oil Pressure With 2 Gauges, It Drops To Less Than 5 Psi When Engine's Hot But If Accel Pressure Goes To 60-80 Psi, Changed Oil Pump Three Times And Problem Still Persist, Once Engine Is Hot Alarm Buzz Above 2250 Rpm And Mutes At 3000 Rpm Aprox..

change the sensor on the oil filter flange with a deisel (black) sensor, It doesn't trip the alarm until the pressure drops below .9 psi, otherwise you could just unplug the sensor and ground it, then it will never come on, even if you lose pressure.

If your main bearings are bad or your crank or block is worn, you seep too much oil and your pressure goes low after 10-20 minutes. Add some Lucas stabilizer. If this works it's temporary. You'll need to rebuild your engine.
Also, Pick up an oil pressure gage and measure the pressure at the sensor location on the cylinder head. If the pressure really is low, see what I said above. It's very common for the sensors to go bad, but an oil pressure gage is only $10 and it's best to know for sure what the problem is, especially if it's low oil pressure.

Hi I had a fram filter that would not flow right.
changed it for a mann filter and presto.
