No Brakes!

The brakes on my '92 LeSabre are practically non-functional. The pedal travels to the floor. I've already replaced the rear wheel cylinders and a section of rusty brake line, and bled the system with no improvement. Both the right front and left rear wheels didn't bleed well; i.e., when the valve was opened, practically nothing came out. But pumping the pedal with the valve open released a constant weak stream of fluid. The other two wheels looked good.

I'm beginning to suspect a bad ABS control module. But since the cost of that part is more than the car is worth, I'm contemplating replacing the master cylinder with one for the non-abs application. Then I'd just couple new lines from the MC into the ABS controller's output lines, effectively bypassing it. Does anyone see a problem with doing this? Any other insight as to what the problem might be would be greatly appreciated!

Welcome to AF, you can by-pass the abs, your choice. A power bleeder or vacuum type bleeder may get the job done though. It is also necessary at times to use a full function scanner to bleed the abs.

Thanks for the response, maxwedge. I found an old post that explains why the brakes are bleeding the way they are. I think I might replace my MC with the correct one first, then if that doesn't work I'll bypass the ABS...
