New Tiburon/Tuscani

I've been surfing the net and hearing about a new Tiburon replacing the current one soon. It's been rumored to have an optional 200 hp V6. Lately, I've been on the Korean Hyundai site and found the Tuscani which appears to be the Tiburon replacement. It looks awesome, but I don't think we're getting a 200 hp model since the Korean version only has 175 ps which is about 172-173 hp. I would guess we'll get 181 hp like the New Sonata's do, but maybe we'll get lucky. Anyone know better? The other thing it appears to have is a 6-Speed Transmission!!! And the new sheet metal looks 10 times better than the previous Tiburons. I'm new here, so I'm hoping this pic attachment works so all of you can see it.

supra copy

This car will be a huge improvement from the previous Tiburon, it will be bigger, will look better, and have more power. I've heard from somewhere it will be in the 16-17k range... I may be wrong :p
I think it's supposed to go on sale the very beginning of 2002... but again.. I may be wrong :p

We should see the new Tuscani/Tiburon probably early next year. It is still possible that it will be the 2002 Tiburon since I have heard that rumor and 2002 specs have not yet been released for it or the 2002 XG350 (XG300 with 3.5 liter engine), but 2002 pricing and specs are available for all other Hyundai models including the Sonata which now has the 2.7l engine from the Santa Fe. I don't know if Hyundai is going to leave the name the same or change it to match the Korean name. I am guessing it will still be called the Tiburon because the Elantra's name was not changed here, but it was changed to the Avante there. As for price, from looking at the Korean pricing, we are looking at something around $18-20k for the V6 with the 6-speed. Not bad I'd say for a car with good power and a 6-spd tranny. It looks like the V6 for the new Tiburon will be the V6 from the Santa Fe as well, so I am expecting 181 hp like in the Santa Fe and Sonata even though I think the Korean Website only rated it at 171. Overall, that is probably the best value for a sports coupe with 6-spds being cheaper and more powerful than the Celica GTS and the upcoming VW GTi 1.8t with 6spds (VW 6spds are going to come out later in the 2002 model year). Other things to note: The pedals are the drilled metal we've been seeing, the brake calipers appear to be painted, and the Korea model has Automatic Climate Control, but don't be surprised if we do or don't get that because Elantra's get that there, but not here.

The new Tiburon will be front wheel drive. I think it should be all wheel drive like the Tiburon rally cars. Maybe if we whine at Hyundai enough, they'll build some AWD ones.

Now thatīs a cool Hyundai I have to say. A bit of the Mustang styling in a compact package. For 16k it seems you really get what you pay.
