Steering gear? 94 Town Car

Have leak at pitman end of steering gear.
Seal is sold seperate so I'm thinking it happens often enough with the mega miles these things get when maintained
Pump has to come off regardless and directions are pretty clear
Once off remove one cover and the gear comes out pull the O ring and seal
Put the new seal in dont cram against bearing replace O ring then put back together
What about that bearing? Has 169000 on it too.
If it can be replaced from the front I would just do that because it is working fine.
A rebuilt is $128 and Im getting back basically the same stuff. The gears
are probably cleaned and put back in, the case also. Ya might get some new balls for the buck and a quarter though. And a servo or something that works.
It appears to be a splash type area so the seal is like A rear seal on a transmission I Imagine.
Finally the question.
Once the sector shaft is removed and the Oring removed could that seal be popped out from the back side? It has a slide hammer shown to pull seal.
I will heed the warning against using the pickle fork on the pitman arm if i can use a wood dowel to pop that sucker out.
Im leaning toward a rebuilt radiator $100. Seal $10 and doing them together
to save time and it may be easier with radiator and cowel out of the way
Ever broke one down Advice? Thanks Good Luck
