hey, i have a 4 bolt 350 thats rebuilt .030 over. right now i have some standrard heads and a very mild cam. i have a edelbrock performer rpm intake,750 edelbrock carb, slp 1 3/4 shorties, slp y pipe, and flowmaster american thunder catback 3". if i had to make an educated guess i'd say i'm making 220whp. i'm running 14.518@94mph untuned.
My question is, what would be a good head and cam combo that would help me make 330-350whp?
I'm on a tight budget so i was thinking about the 64cc vortec heads with a nice size cam. The springs on these particular set don't allow for a huge lift cam, but i don't really wanna run a huge lobey cam cause drivability would suffer and i don't wanna lower my gas mileage much, but if i have to i will. let me know your opinions. thank you.

Going from 220 rwhp to 330+, you will lose some gas mileage, especially with a carb. BUT to get that much HP from a 350 doesn't require a huge lobey cam. If your shooting for 450 though, you'll need it.
I really don't know enought about heads or cams to suggest anything, but there are probably a TON of options for you, just make sure that the heads and cam complemet eachothers flow characteristics.
Oh, and in the meantime, get that thing tuned.

yea i'm gonna buy the carb tune kit from summitt when i buy the combo. right now i can do without a tune cause i'm just gonna have to retune it again later, plus theres only a few more months left that i'll be driving the car. i kinda want to get the car dyno'd just for a before and after aspect of things, but we'll see.
Today i did some research on vortec heads and found that theres actually a lot of different options on just the heads alone. As of today i'm now leaning tords the edelbrock e-tec heads which are the aluminium version of the vortecs. not only that, but edelbrock has a combo package that includes the cam, pushrods, lifters, head studs, assembled heads, and basically everything i need. go's for 1579.00. and they have dyno info. supposedly the combo is good for 410 peak hp on my block. maybe a little more with some good rocker arms. thinking thats the way to go, but if someone has a better combo that will produce more power at a cheaper price i'd go for that.

Going with that Edelbrock package, I'm guessing your talking about the Performer Rpm package, would be an awesome setup. Sounds like you already have a big enough carb and some headers so that would a good setup. With your stock pistons those little 64cc chambers may bump up the compression too high, but I guess with aluminum heads it wouldn't be as much of a problem. I have vortec heads with a performer rpm intake, and comp 268 cam and am very happy with it. Your edelbrock package would be a REAL fun setup.

Be warned, vortec heads have an intake bolt pattern all their own...a standard SBC intake (and most after market) won't bolt up to them.
