clutch replacement 92 p/u

got a 92 silverado 4x4..never done a clutch and cant find a thread to help me..i dropped drive shaft..un bolted tranny mount..took out bellhousing bolts..starter..tranny wont slide back..also will it slide back enough to get to clutch parts?..and do i just put them back exactly like they come out?..im pretty good with small jobs..any help would be great on this hydraulic clutch..thks

Remove the transfer case from the transmission(4 bolts). To much weight might bind on the clutch plate. Support both engine and transmission. If there is not enough room to tilt the engine back, remove the distributor. Make sure you get all of the bellhousing bolts(on top). The trans should slide back. You will need a clutch alineing tool or you will never get the trans shaft back into the clutch. Replace clutch, pressure plate and throw out bearing.

The bolts for the bell housing should be the last to come out after the tx case and tranny are out and on the ground. The bell housing needs to come out to access the clutch replacement.

thks for the advice i will unbolt the transfer case tomorrow night..and hopefully get the tranny out..my clutch package came with an alignment tool so i hope that helps me...ill let you know how my progress is tomorrow...thks again
