Hi All,
I was changing the oil in my buddies 98 Maxima and he decided to drop in a new air filter. After I was done he said he started the car and the service engine light was on. I had him pop the hood and noticed he had not reconnected the MAF sensor attatch to the airbox. I connected it and he started the car and and the light was still on. Having owned a 95 Z I figured he should disconnect the battery for about 10 minutes and that should reset the ECU and the light would disappear...no dice. Any suggestions on how to get the light off??
Thanks,
Jeff

you probably have to reset the ecu manually

Here you go. It's at the bottom of the page but might as well read the codes it stored to be sure it really was the MAFS.

you can translate the code using the following:http://vbxmaxima.8m.com/ecudecoder.html

Yup, the same thing happened to me. I forgot to reconnect the sensor and got the check engine light. I had to manually reset it and it turned off.

You need to leave the battery disconnected for a longer period. Try a few hours or so.
