Hello. I was down shifting into 2nd about to make a turn when all of a sudden the clutch pedal would not come back up, i had to pull it back up and pump it every time it would not come back up trying to drive back home. I looked in my clutch master cylinder thing and the fluid was really dirty...i had my clutch bled and stuff a couple months ago, My guess is that my clutch master cylinder is leaking or something but i am not too sure. if anyone else has had this problem before any advice would be greatly appreciated. thank you.
I drive a 95 eagle talon TSi AWD w/ 92 head.

update:: i got my clutch master cylinder replaced and it doesn't drop to the floor anymore but after driving for about 5 minutes or so the clutch gets stiffer and harder to press down, when i press it down it literally pops back up. before the first 5 minutes of driving the clutch feels normal and the friction point is fairly low but after the 5 minutes and when the clutch pedal gets stiffer the friction point gets quite higher. I have a 95 eagle talon tsi awd w/ ACT 2600 clutch. if anyone can help that would be great, thx

With the ACT 2600 it should be hard to push down. If you were having problems with your Master Cylinder the clutch could have been a little easier to push because of the lack of fluid within the system.
I remember my ACT 2600 clutch feeling exactly like the clutch in my cobra with a t-5, pretty damn stiff.
Also the clutch is supposed to pop back into place.
When you say friction point, do you mean engagement point of the clutch?

Thanks for your feed back. Yes friction point as in the engagement point of the clutch. it's just that when i start the car the clutch feels decent, then after 5 mins of driving it gets stiffer and the engagement point gets higher, when i leave the car off for a couple mins the clutch pedal feels normal then after 5 mins of driving again it gets stiffer. when its 'normal' the pedal hits the floor when i press it down all the way, but when it gets stiffer the pedal won't reach the floor unless i force it.

When you say it won't hit the floor unless your force it, do you mean the clutch is extremely stiff at this point and you have to press real hard? Or that it hangs up and gets stuck at a certain point and you have to force it from there?
Is it affecting your driving at all? IE are you noticing anything else wrong other than your pedal?

What I mean by 'it won't hit the floor unless i force it' is that when it seems 'normal' when i push the pedal down it goes all the way untill it touches the floor, But when it starts to get weird it goes down about 80% and won't hit the ground unless i jam it down (which i try not to do) I noticed that when the clutch does start acting funny like this the gears do not move in or out of gear as smoothly as oppose to when it feels "normal."

The last time i had my clutch bled it was filled with regular DOT 3 fluid....after i had the clutch master cylinder installed it was filled with DOT 3 synthetic. I know mixing motor oils is bad but is clutch/brake fluid mixing bad also? is it possible that that is the reason for the clutch acting weird?

No I don't think that would do it.
Since you have had the master cylinder replace, have you checked the slave cylinder just to make sure that is indeed good?
If that checks good I would check the clutch cable. If that turns out fine than the only thing left would be to remove your tranny and have a look at your clutch flywheel, and TOB.

is there an easy way to visually detect if the clutch slave clyinder has gone bad?

hmm i'm not sure how many miles are on the clutch...it's not any older than 2 years i know that..probably abused a bit but the clutch still seems to grab pretty hard.

just push clutch down & bleed if there is suffient pressure u will have a good stream when u crack open bleeder at slave cyl

Now it is going back to how it was a while ago...not going in gear sometimes (makes grinding noise when i try to move it into gear) and when i shift the clutch feels softer and makes a grinding noise when i try to put it in gear. The pressure plate and clutch cable seem to be ok...and i already replaced the master cylinder....so hopefully my last bet is the slave cylinder?

i would try bleeding the slave cly. first it only takes a few minutes.

I tried bleeding it but it goes back to how it use to be after a couple days...there is a small leak in the slave cylinder...i'll see how it goes after i switch it out. thanks
