yes you can. pretty much any civic cold air intake will work on any model. Im using a 99-00 Si CAI on my 91 d16z6 hatch. works fine.

Use the 88-91 Civic/CRX Si intake and you won't have to move the battery or use another civic intake and you will have to relocate the battery.

If you want a short ram intake, I can help you out a little. I bought a cheapy short ram from autodynamic.com for a 94-97 Del Sol Si (i thought i was ordering the B16A3 VTEC model). I cut off the metal thing for bolting it down to the engine bay. I used an AEM rubber flange to hook it up to the TB. It wedges nicely between the battery, and the engine bay. Hey, it's a little ghetto, but works for me :)

Hope that helped :)

Yup... I have the AEM CAI for the 99-01 Civic SIs... had to get a smaller battery to make it fit... not really sure it was worth it but can't complain now...
Here's a pic...

Why would you relocate your battery for a D16Z?!?!
Anyway, for the B16A I personally wouldn't use most D series intakes (AEM, etc) because the intake itself is actually smaller than the TB! What good is that? If you don't want to relocate your battery I think you have about 2 options.
1) A lot of people are using intakes from the 90-93 Tegs. They are for B series motors and they're bigger in diameter (I believe its 2.75") and they're bent perfectly so they should fit around your battery. I've never heard of one not fitting.
2) Injen CAI for an 88-91 CRX Si. The piping is the same size as the 99-00Si (again, I believe its 2.75") and you won't have to move your battery for this one. I don't know why, but injen just made the piping for this intake bigger than all the other companys.. Works for me. :) That what I'm going to get when the time comes.. I had my old shorty that I had on my ZC when I dropped my B16 in, but it was just too damn small, so I took it off and replaced it with a stock one with a modded airbox. :)

Why would you relocate your battery for a D16Z?!?!
the question is why WOULDNT you relocate your battery. if you havent noticed, all civics but ours have the battery elsewhere. honda figured out that where the battery is located on our cars was a shitty place to put it. relocating it not only opens up your engine bay, but makes room for ANY cold air intake to work. like i've said, im using a 99-00 Civic Si intake and it works perfectly.
