Hey all, i just bought this car and when i test drove it, the air conditioning seemed to work just fine. I'm about ready to take it back to the dealer i got it from cuz i could be driving around all day long with the air conditioning on full blast and it does put out cool air. but it doesn't seem to cool the truck down. it basically keeps me and the family just below the sweating our butts off stage. however when you get out, and then get back in, you can feel that its worked enough to do something, but at no point does it cool the truck down enough for you to have to turn it down. I'm thinking the humidity here in southern mississippi has something to do with it but i doubt it. Is this a normal thing with these Exporers or do i have a lagitamate complaint? again this is my first explorer i've ever owned. My other SUV is a '95 Chevy Blazer and when i turn the a/c on in that thing, give it a half hour in the dead heat of the day, i'm either turn it off or down cuz it gets too cold. Please let me know

could be low on r-134. u can get a refill with a gauge and test how low the gas is it should be in the 30 to 40 psi range. u can buy this at most auto part stores. some have dye to locate if u have a leak.

big vehicle, since its that size and so many windows it might need a uv tint to keep out the heat or just a tint. might not be the coolant since it runs cold.

very common on these models for the lines to the rear a/c unit to leak just as they bend behind right front wheel. otherwise the a/c is very powerful on the explores and should cool you down!
