air horns

I bought some 135 db air horns for my 99 crown vic lx but the directinos are stupid and make no sense! Apparently there is a horn relay that takes the power from the old horn and puts it to the air horns but I like the rudeness of the old horn. Is there anyway to have both functional at the same time?

In my manual it says my car has spare fuses and what not for like sirens, spotlights, and radios so is it possible to put the horns on their own fuse?

Also i want to know... in the steering wheel on the left and right side are there 2 separate horn buttons? if so would i be able to make like the right one regular horn and the left the air horns??

(Highjacked the quote) I bought some 135 db air horns for my 99 crown vic lx but the directinos are stupid and make no sense! Apparently there is a horn relay that takes the power from the old horn and puts it to the air horns but I like the rudeness of the old horn. Is there anyway to have both functional at the same time? Yes, you can run both horn sets, You will need to run a totally separate circuit (with relay, etc.) for the Airhorns. For separate use, they have to be seperated somewhere in the circuitry. Easiest way is to add a switch in the wiring from the horn button. You'll need a single pole - double throw switch. one side runs the stock horns the other side to run the airhorns. This way, you will be able to select which horns honk while using the stock horn button (instead of having 2 horn buttons). Any competent electrician can guide you in this project

In my manual it says my car has spare fuses and what not for like sirens, spotlights, and radios so is it possible to put the horns on their own fuse? Yes, and also recommended to do so.

Also i want to know... in the steering wheel on the left and right side are there 2 separate horn buttons? if so would i be able to make like the right one regular horn and the left the air horns?? Sorry, no can do on this one. The 2 buttons are only 2 pictures of horns; both sides are connected, and there's no way to seperate them.

I still dont get it (sort of)

In my power distributer box there are holes for fuses. I understand that I would have put a 30amp fus in there then buy something to tap the power from the fuse with some sort of device (a device i dont know fo yet). The instructions say use a 12 volt circuit... are all those holes for fuses 12 volts?

THEN I would install the horns like the instructions say but use the wire from the fuse tap rather than stealing the +12 from the regular horn. After that I would tie in a toggle switch from beginning with the horn button wire and leading to both the air horns and the regular horn so i can switch back and forth....

Im just not seeing how if i use just a random empty fuse slot in my power box i can assure its 12 volts and how would i be able to make the horn button which is on a completely different circuiot work for both.

I know it seems im dumb... im just more inclined with mechanics than electronics :banghead:

i was also thinking, what if i just installed the horns like the directions say but rather than disconnecting the +12 from the old horn just putting a switch where the air horns, the regular horns, and the button wire meet so that depending on the switch they power will go to either one...

the horn kid comes with relays but there are also a bunch of relays plugged into my power box that seem to relate to police stuff... where are the outputs of those relays or am i just lost

HIJACKING HIS QUOTE: THEN I would install the horns like the instructions say but use the wire from the fuse tap rather than stealing the +12 from the regular horn. After that I would tie in a toggle switch from beginning with the horn button wire and leading to both the air horns and the regular horn so i can switch back and forth.... You can tap your 12V from about any fuse opening, or from the 12V source tap (large nut about 6" back from + post on the battery) I would add an inline fuse holder for protection.
how would i be able to make the horn button which is on a completely different circuiot work for both. The horn button is only a ground, the power will come through the horn circuits, the horn button only completes the circuit by grounding.
