I am looking to purchase a fullsize truck for my business. I do florring and deliver thousands of pounds of wood and tile to jobs. I need a real truck for the job.
So far i looked at two similar trucks, both ar F-350 Powerstroke Diesal crew cabs with long beds.
#1 $14,000 2000 w/ 249,000 miles. Power everything, 4" lift, 20" rims, Open Country MT tires at half life. Heavy duty leaf over springs four wheel disc brakes, and fog lights.
Problem with number one is a cracked driver mirror case, and subsequently power mirrors dont work. Windshield is cracked down the middle. On u joint is too greasy, bearing may be going out. And the big one! Transmission fluid is black and smells burnt.
Dealer knows these problems are big and has simply said, make an offer. They just bought the truck without looking at it, and learned when it was too late. My dad says it could just be that they have never changed the fluid. Carfax shows three owners. One to 49K mile, next to 169K and the final upto now. Two accidents, one minor and the last one before being auctioned off by a dealership. Chassis looks straight, drives nice, has power, etc. Clean title though.
I need something affordable becuase i want to stay debt free as much as possible. So i was thinking of offering $6k.
#2 $20,000 2001 106,000 miles Nothing is power. Just your basic work truck. Runs good. Havent done a carfax yet. Bigger dealer. Supposedly one owner. Stock rims with brand new passenger tires.
Only problems are corrosion under the truck, probably due to previous owner living near salt water. No liner in bed and well used, so it is rusting as well. I HATE not having power locks and windows. Not even cruise control. Much softer suspension. Almost soft like a back shock. But i cant tell. Other than that is seems good.
I am leaning to the 200 simply because of price. But i am not sure. I have poor credit and want to use the truck to help rebuild, but i dont wana be stuck in a payment at a high interest rate for a long time. The 2000 i could pay off fast if i got it under 10K. But i am not sure what the choice is....
