Clicking from brake

When I press on the brakes hard enough when attempting to stop (*click, click, click*) - there is a clicking sound. I have also noticed how the brake signal is always red, even while driving the car. Does anyone what's wrong?

the brake light will come on if your e-brake is on, or if you have low brake fluid.

What car do you have... ABS does make things that seem like that.

where is the clicking coming from? front or back? It sounds like something may have broken off inside the rear drums, which would cause the rear cylinder to over-expand and lose brake fluid...

How much would it cost to repair this problem. If it costs to much, then I don't think it worth the fix. I have an 88 Honda Civic LX sedan. I don't want some guy giving me a bogus price.

it depends, you still haven't said where the brake noise is coming from. Front or back? If its the back you can likely get a honda manual and take the brakes apart yourself..could be a spring that came off...I can replace the entire braking system in the rear for 60 bucks..you could do it for much less but I don't mind spending the money to replace the brake shoes and springs when problems develop..if your clicking is coming from the front I don't know what would cause that noise specifically when braking. Check all the brake lines and tires for evidence of brake fluid leaking, etc...labour is always what will kill you..if you have the time, get acquainted with the car and post back with what you found
