Ok guys lets see if you can help me out. It has been a really hot summer here and yesterday I had to go see my grandma in the hospital. It was about an hour away and she wasn't doing to well so I was in a hurry. I was on the interstate and no matter what speed I was going the car wanted to run a little warm, only about 2/3 on the temp gauge but still more than normal. Even at idle it would creep up on the gauge. I finally turned the heater on and the temps dropped back down to normal and I rode the rest of the way there like that. So it was about 105 degrees and Im riding with the FU*KIN heater on!! This sucks so bad. Then today when I was coming home the car ran fine until the AC was cut on then it wanted to run hot again.

I took out the AC fan for the turbo but that should effect anything at 80mph. I'm guessing my FMIC is causing all of these problems but I still would like to fix them a little. I just change the coolant to and added water wetter hoping that would help. Should I change the thermostat to something lower just for the summer? Thanks

I have been recomended to get a 170 thermostat. Water wetter plust more water then coolant mix also helps. You can also hotwire the fans to keep the heat out of the rad. You can try and dam the air straight through your fmic to your rad. You should also have the intake dammed off from the engine bay. And you should put your heat shield back on ;)

I know exactly what you're going through. It was 107 here yesterday. I don't even drive the clipse when its that hot. But I have the same problem with the car running hot.

I tried the water wetter and wiring the stock fans, with the heat shield installed and that didn't help at all. This week im going to flush out the cooling system, and add some water wetter and fresh coolant and water mix. Probably 60:40 water to coolant. I also have 2 12 inch slim line fans on order that are supposed to flow upwards of 1200 cfm each. If that doesn't work i guess i will be buying a fluidyne radiator. What I dont get is my buddy's gst has a bigger FMIC than i do with no ducting and he doesn't run hot.

If you figure it out let me know.

Try blowing out the radiator with an air compressor. You'd be surprised how much shit gets stuck in between the fins and restricts airflow. Watch out though, you might want a dust mask right away.

make your own thats what I did. I bought 7 dollars worth of aluminum and made an intake dam and a heat shield out of it. Best 7 bucks I ever spent.

Im actually workin on a heat shield now. I am ordering a slim fan so I will have to now. And maybe try a 180 thermostat. If that doesn't work I might wire an all time fan up or something.
