Well I read everything I could find on here about replacing the ball joints. The top one went without fuss.....I had to air chisel the rivets off, but then I can't find any rivets in the lower ones. Does this mean that they are pressed in only? If so, how do I get them out? Please don't tell me that I have to remove the lower A-frame arm and take it some where to be pressed out. And I take it that they should still be pressed out of the bottom, correct?

Well I bought the Harbour freight ball joint remover. Hmmm, lacks a lot to be desired, but I did get one side out after hours of trial and error. I will press the new one in tomorrow and then start on the passenger side. Yay, fun.

A picklefork won't do the trick?

Both the top and lower ball joints are rivited on from the factory, or have a nut and bolt if the factory ones were replaced, they were not pressed on. A '99 with original ball joints....thats pretty good considering ball joints are a common part for replacement.

Well, I will have to beg to differ........the bottoms on my '99 LT are pressed in. I finally got them out and the new ones pressed in. The tops are riveted in and were fairly easy to get out with the aid of an air chisel. I broke the c-clamp press that I bought at Harbour Freight. I had to go and rent one from Advanced. That made all the difference.
