I have a 97 Honda Accord 2.2L VTEC. When I start the car & leave it for a while around 20min it starts to idle from 1k to about 1.5k then back down to 500 then it almost cuts of goes back to 1k then dies out unless I press the gas peddle. I've checked the EGR valve & cleaned it & it works fine had a tune up about 1 month ago. I get a code of P0505 looked it up & it was teh Idle Control Valve how can I fix this problem?

I am the proud original owner of a 1988 Accord (143k miles) and just had the carburetor replaced. After the work was done, she was idling at about 750, then would sputter down to 500, acting like she was stalling out. My mechanic upped the idle to about 1000. Should that solve the problem, or could something else be going on? Also, how often should I have the fuel filter replaced? Thanks.

upping the idle wont solve the prob it will just mask it make it unoticeable but if it performs well then leave it but if the car didnt have that prob before then the prob lies in the mechanics workmanship im not trying to badmouth any mechanics im just saying but as long as you are happy with it then great
