I have a 1996 Eclipse GST with a 6 bolt swap. I am tired of spining my tires in 1st,2nd, and 3rd. I bought myself a 1995 Eagle Talon AWD shell. Now...all I need is a AWD transmission/clutch/flywheel. I was wondering since I have a 6 bolt swap is it possible to use a 1g transmission in my 2g talon with the 6 bolt outta the gst? Would I need to fab anything or would it work no problem?
Let me know!!!!
Thanks

I don't believe so. The 1g tranny mount is on the motor, where the 2g mount is on the car (or vice-versa), so you'd need to either so some fabbing, or the other option is to put the 1g tranny into the 2g tranny "shell", if that makes any sense. And yes, it is possible, very tedious, but possible. It's what I'll be doing to get my 1g TRE into my 2g awd tsi.

For fucks sake does anyone know how to use the subforums anymore?
As far as your problem, the 6 bolt and 7 bolt engines used different setups... the 6 bolt had 3 mounts on the block and one on the tranny. The 7 bolt is the opposite, 3 on tranny and 1 on block. I've heard that you can use the 2g tranny in a 6 bolt car, but yes, a 1g tranny will work. I've heard that 2g trannies are strong stock so you might consider one of those, but as strapped as you are you might want to just shell out for a shep 1g tranny. As far as the fabbing goes, it shouldnt be much different than doing the 6 bolt swap in the GST.
