I've been having problems with the synchros and I'm thinking about just buying a whole new transmission. How can I tell exactly what type of transmission in need for a 93 Eagle Talong TSI AWD? From what I've researched I believe its a 4g63 Turbo transmission but I want to know for sure before I actually buy one.
Also wat are some good websites that can sell new or used transmissions?
Thanks

I'm assuming you mean a AWD not a AWL because AWL makes no sense but AWD does since it means All Wheel Drive. And yes you just simply need a 1st gen Turbo 4G63 AWD tranny.

:lol: Not that simple Ned, but pretty close. Yes, you will need a 1g tranny, but you will need a 91-94... the 90 will not work without new shift cables and a T case for sure, maybe a few other things.

AWD= All-Wheel Drive
AWL = .....All-Wheel Launch?
Therefore my senses tell me that AWD=AWL. :lol:

Does any1 know where i could get some good prices on 1? Should I just call up some auto shops around town and see what they think or are there some online shops selling them?

Well dude, finding a good shifting 1g tranny will not be easy. I would suggest you just do a rebuild, but they get expensive as all hell. John Shepard is the most trusted DSM tranny rebuilder, but he is also the most expensive. TRE makes some, but I have heard their customer service sucks ass. The company I will go through when I need a rebuilt tranny is Dog Box. I cant find their site, but they are the cheapest. I am sure you can find a local shop (if you are in a big area) that can throw in some new syncros for ya too.

If you are pretty good with your hands you might want to consider doing it yourself. I have heard that tranny rebuilds are easy as hell if you know what you are doing. There is an article on it on http://www.vfaq.com.

I'm thinking about trying to replace the synchro for 1st gear in my 93 eagle talon myself. I'm not amazing with cars but I got a couple friends that know what they are doing. My question is what would I have to buy to replace it properly. Should I buy a double sychro 1st gear? Wats the difference between the double sychro and the single 1? Should I buy synchro keys and springs?
Thanks

You already have a recent tranny related thread, you dont need two (I merges them).
