wont start

1996 pontiac grand am. when you turn on the key no dash lights go on. sound as if starter is going. wont start . no dash lights, alt batt nothing. when it starts runs for a sec then dies.no idiot lights on at all

Test your battery and alternator.
Also check that the connections are clean and tight.

If all that checks out, then your ignition switch may be bad.... :dunno:
