RSX, WRX, or Lancer EVO ?

Well ill be getting a new car in a short time. I have been into cars for about 2 months, and i was oobsesed with hondas and acuras. I first wanted a civic, then an integra, and and accord. I now want to get an RSX type S. This is where the confusion begins. I like RSX's i think they are nice cars, they arent too easy to hook up but it will be a fun car to work with. I was thinking about a WRX, but i think they are ugly and i dont really like subarus, they are fast but i havent seen many of them on the streets, or on magazines. Well the question is should i get an RSX, a WRX, i could wait for a lancer evo, or other cars i like GTI's i think they are nice but i need some help.

Well, which you should get depends on what you want to do. If you want something simple, with some get up and go and lots of stupid aftermarket stuff like Clear tail lights, neons, body kits, and other worthless, tacky things then go for the RSX.

I'm sorry, I'm being really harsh on the RSX here, it's a really nice machine, but there just isn't any competition between it and the other two cars you mentioned.

The RSX is N/A, Has a low torque number, and is FWD.

The WRX is Turbo charged, has an equal ammount of torque and HP(both of which are more than the type-S' HP #) and is AWD. It's a rally car for the street.

Now, If your willing to get a Lancer EVO 8 when it comes out, than you should be comparing it to the WRX Sti which is coming out soon, that would be a fairer comparison. But, out of the three you've got listed here nothing will touch the EVO. It's just like the WRX only with more power and better handling.

So, for all out performance wait for the Lancer, nothing will touch it on a track.

AINT THAT THE TRUTH.....i got to drive a STI..over here...guess what my next purchase is when i get to the states...WRX:D

first of all CAptynCrunch the rsx has a higher displacement higher compression ratio, redline and gear ratio. there is a reason for the motor having less torque. The K20 has a great deal of potential, but best bang for the buck is going to be the wrx. You can't beat LSD and a forced induction sys. stock for that price.

not exactly the fairest comparison here guys. evo vii kiks the wrx ass wrx kiks the rsx ass performance wise. looks its all taste here but i prefer the lancer then wrx then i dot really like the rsx. now a fair comparison would be the sti rsx type r and the evo vii then it gets donw to circumstances drivers and all that. id stil choose the subbie or the evo but thats just me. there are many a honda 4 life guys out there and if thats your thing i respect you just hold up your claims with some reason.

Hi, I'm like most guys in here.. forget the rsx.... The best is always the test drive. The Evo 8 is coming to the states in Jan 2003. You should wait for the Sti when it comes out. The EVo would kill the WRX. So just wait. I wouldn't even want to get the rsx type r. It's not coming to the states. You'll prbably have to go to Japan or Europe just to try one. And if you do and want one, you got to pay big $$$ just to import it over to you. But for your poll, i'd go for the Evo. Peace

RSX type-S damn it...... sorry that was bothering me, I tend to question reliability of the evo, my trust has never been held within the motor of a mistsubishi nor will it ever be after past experiences. Everyone puts down the RSX but how many of you have test driven one/ worked with a K20C? Yet my vote still goes to wrx, b/c of reasons above.

In reply to the post above, when i said rsx type-r, i meant RSX TYPE-R, not the type-s. My brother has a rsx type-s. It's not bad, but it's also not that great. And from what i've heard, the base rsx and the type-s are basically the same, except for a small increase in HP and the badge. In other words, the type-s is no different than the base rsx, in comparison. But i heard that Japan is coming out with the rsx type-r. Of course, the US market won't allow such awesome cars in its market.

....yea.....its an interga in japan........ type R......same body stlye as rsx.

The RSX is out of place in that comparison (not that it hasnt already been said). Considering its short 20 ponies and AWD. Now if your talking about the STi, then the RSX is REALLY out of place, an STi would shit on an RSX :biggrin2:. Tough to say, I love Hondas, but the RSX would be beat in any circumstance agaisnt a WRX.

Oh, and the difference between the type s and base model is pretty big, about 40 horses big. And when you jump from 160 to 200, your talkin 15'8 in the quarter to 14'8. Big difference dude.

And considering the RSX Type-S sells brand new for 23-24k, its not bad.
It compares to the Eclipse GT which is more expensive and slower than the RSX S, and it also compares to the Celica GT-S (since were talkin price and all) which is also more expensive and MUCH slower. The RSX aint a bad buy at all. Of course if you got the bucks for the WRX, that is an better buy :sun:

Its short of forced induction, add a regulatory turbo to the rsx and comparisons would change greatly.

Yah no kidding. I always thought that it was fair when the Vtec was turboed, but then ppl say its not... they're just too fast I guess.:D

Since when did 40 hp equate to a second in the 1/4 mile? If so 9's here I come!

BTW I voted for the Lancer, nothing in the states here will be able to hold a flame to it. 14.2 in the 1/4 mile, ON DIRT!!!!!!

40hp will make that big of a difference when you only have 160 to begin with, thats almost 25% more. So think about it that way. Or dont, whatever...

Either way, it's still only 40 horsepower. When I put on my exhaust, I didn't go from a 15.2-15.3, to a 14.2 I have a turbo'd GSX. Most exhaust systems give about 20-25 hp on a turbo car. N/a it might get 3-5 hp. It might have dropped me a few tenths. But not a whole second. Impossible for that in my opinion.

lol, you went from what... 210 to 235. That isnt as big of a difference.

Its not the total power or the total increase, its the difference and from where you started. If you had added about 50hp, then you would have been down in the 14's

There is a big diff between the two models, thats all Im sayin.

Oh and an exhaust is still gonna help an NA more than 3-5hp... At least 10hp. Lets get real here. (any kind thats going to give you 25 anyways. Which is also alot)

If i were you I would wait and buy the EVO VIII. AWD, AYC, and ACD its sweet. It has about 270 hp and will able to spank M3's and many types of Porsche. You can't go wrong with an EVO. They are built to last becuase they are WRC cars so they have to last. The EVO will be a huge demand when it comes over. Wait it will be worth it.

the WRX is faster than the RSX type-S. the evo is faster than the WRX and the RSX type-S. This isnt a good comparison b/c the WRX only has 227 h/p and the evo has 280h/p. It would rather be a better comparison... well no, the WRX STI is faster than the evo and all but it would be a better comparison between an STI and an evo. out of the ones you had the choice to pick from i would pick the WRX because the evo isnt out for sale yet and it would cost alot cheaper and you would have a fast car with the WRX... with 2000$ and owning a WRx you can run 13.5 which is faster than the evo.

But I think the RSX is more run to drive :D Just personal opinion, but it has more of a "sports car" feel about it to me.

WRX all the way. I haven't drven one, but my brother has. He said it is an amazing car that packs quite a punch.

I disagree the M3 should hand the EVO8 its ass.

M3=333hp
EVO8=270

the M3 has 66 more horse power thats a big difference

also

M3=RWD
EVO8= AWD

Now here it depends on what kind of driving you do, BMW RWD very good straight line flyer and very good in the twistys also. EVO8 AWD ok straight line but not that good awd helps you launch good but holds you back from there on. Awd very good in the twistys but the M3 would still win because its got the extra 66hp and its has very good torque.

so bottom line I feel the BMW M3 would win if you still disagree please explain why.

the american evoVII is not nearly as kool as the evoVII no acd fyi... and not nearly as kool looking... sitll want one but ill just wait for the VW r32 thank you very much

a u.s spec evo and sti would be extremely close. i honestly don't see why you even bothered putting in a rsx type s in there. its not even in the same class as those other 2 cars. but my vote, if its a sti. then STi. if its a WRX vs. EVO. then it would be the EVO. if its RSX, vs. EVO, vs. WRX, i'll just pretend the RSX is not even there becasue it will be left in the dust sooo fast that you can beat one without even knowing your racing.
