I'm a big fan of act clutches with a 6 puck disc

i was thinking something more of exedy,i heard they are pretty reliable.as long as they wont cost me no 500 dollarz,i'll be in good shape.but act has a pretty good repitation too though.i need something that i can really screw around in at 4 grand rpm and dumping the clutch!thats what i'm looking for , also why i probably need a new one.

I had an exedy cerametallic one. It lasted for about two years but not many km's at all because i didn't drive in the winters and I don't put on any miles in the summer.

Best clutch you can go with is a kevlar disc. Look into the zoom stage you disk. Its a four puck kevlar disk, a few people on here have them and they are great clutches.

i have a few friends who street race and they say centerforce makes spectacular clutches , whats your advice on this one.?

SilvrEclipse
08-11-2007, 03:35 PM
Dont use Centerforce, they have shitty clutches IMO. ACT is alright, alot of people use them.

are these trannys a pain in the dick to replace clutches,1g talon turbo awd

SilvrEclipse

He obviously ran over it with the lawnmower guys

Thor06
08-12-2007, 07:37 PM
Yeah, I wouldnt get a Centerforce either. I had a Centerforce in the Talon before I blew it up and I actually munched that clutch pretty good. It still has good enough meat left on it, but I know what it takes to make it slip and thats not a whole lot.

I would throw up a :1: for Steviek's suggestion for a ACT clutch and a sprung 6 puck disk. Be sure not to get the unsprung, you will hardly be able to drive it. Other than that, I would suggest a Exedy stage 2. I know a guy that had one of those in his Del Sol, its grabs fucking HARD (he could bark 3rd pretty good) but it likes to chatter so you gotta rev it up higher to shift decent.

Lastly, why the hell are you running around doing 4k dumps especially if you know your clutch is fucked? :disappoin

Oh yeah, yes they are a huge pain to change.

jeremytalon92
08-12-2007, 11:10 PM
fidanza?

jeremytalon92
08-12-2007, 11:14 PM
i dump it at 4k because its stock and thats the only way to spin tires and i like humiliating my friends accord racing

steviek
08-13-2007, 01:09 AM
 man just pick one

SilvrEclipse

Fidanza clutch = Zoom clutch

Its the same exact part just different paint.

Thor06
08-13-2007, 01:19 AM
What?! Are you serious? Any proof? Zoom's are cheap as hell arent they?

SilvrEclipse
08-13-2007, 01:23 AM
Umm.. no man. Zoom clutches are really good. Where did you hear that from? And yes Im positive. My dad works for zoom.

yea this is a good thread for me since im sure gonna need to get a new clutch soon

and i was about to look into ZOOM

dsmtuner1987
08-14-2007, 09:53 PM
yes, zoom are great, centerforce are only good if you dont race and seriously, you dont need to do a 4000rpm cluth dump against any accord.
if its an all wheel drive, you could eat that thing alive just off the line.

jeremytalon92
08-15-2007, 06:30 PM
true, true, but its the only way to spin tires with awd,and it being stock until i get enough money again.

SilvrEclipse
08-15-2007, 06:48 PM
Why do you want to spin the tires?

dsmtuner1987
08-15-2007, 10:15 PM
yeah, you actually have a slower launch when you spin the tires, so whats the point? its not like they have to be warmed up for it anyway.

plus you'll be buying tires a lot sooner, i wouldnt want that to offset the money that should go toward the clutch you want to get.

jeremytalon92
08-16-2007, 05:52 PM
well silvReclipse,i spin tires because thats how I start out on a doughnut.spin tires with them turned either way all the way, then,FLOOR IT,around you go,but try to keep it between redline for more power and between low rpm not to go out of spin for it being awd.
and for dsmtuner,i work at honda and we get SOOOOO MANYYYYYYY tires that we just throw away, and there perfect ones,no nails, lots of tread, and arent dry rotted.so tires aint an issue, sure new tires would be nice but until i really start racing, used will due, sounds quier but hey, beats buying $400 in tires or more.

SilvrEclipse
08-16-2007, 06:47 PM
O shit. Its worse than I thought.....

jeremytalon92
08-16-2007, 08:52 PM
although i havent did it in a while,i should stop doing it altogether because i'll be buying new clutches like every month.and the talon wont even move a foot without slipping, only like 3 inches at max.SERIOUSLY,NO JOKE!
BAD HABBIT HUGH?

because of your ever intelligent comments about the fact that your are literally tearing up a car that could be treated so much better by someone that actually knows what they're doing
THERE, i said what eveyone else wont

jeremytalon92
08-18-2007, 07:03 PM
well whenever you race what do you think you are doing to the car. redline, speed shifting, and i love my car, sports cars arent supposed to be driven like your old grannie at 15 mph, supposed to be driven at 115 mph.thats why they have high performance engines, suspension, brakes,CLUTCHES,transmissions,l ight-weight.

SilvrEclipse
08-18-2007, 07:18 PM
We build these cars to take the abuse that we put them through. I beat on my car a good bit. But there is a difference between driving it hard and abusing the car. I pretty sure doing doughnuts is considered abuse.

jeremytalon92
08-18-2007, 07:34 PM
i see where you are coming from.then whats drifting?that would be abuse too.like racing whenever you push the car to its limits

Thor06
08-18-2007, 11:32 PM
There is a difference between "beating" on a car and "driving it hard." Not only is revving it up and dumping it hard on the car, but its not even the proper launching technique. Sure spinning tires might look cool, but if you really want to embarrass someone, launch like you should. People that continually beat on these cars are the ones that ruin it for the rest of us because as soon as you have had your fun and sell it, its going to start falling apart in the new owners hands. Want to know how I know? Well, I have had to put a new motor in my car 50 miles after I bought it from some dude and my buddy's car died and wouldnt resurrect 3k miles after he bought it. DSM's are by no means Porsches or Ferraris and no, they are not meant do be hammered on every day. They are a budget man's sports car and should be treated as such. If you want to chip away at immenent destruction of your car by beating on it then go for it, but its going to be an expensive ride dude.

Oh, and yes, I am happy :).

what i have is in no way an old grannie car.:nono:
but as thor just said, STOP F*****G up a perfectly good car and learn how to drive.

unless you want me to come up there and show you how

i know these cars very well because i used to own one and please, only 115?:disappoin
why dont you go past the 150mph barrier with it? until then, dont act like you know how to race:screwy:

you stop making power when you redline the car anyway, you gotta figure out the right shift point for the best time:grinyes:

SilvrEclipse
08-19-2007, 02:51 PM
Its probably not such a good idea to tell him to go 150+.

jeremytalon92
08-19-2007, 02:57 PM
whenever you get to redline shift, dont go past that point, and no i'm not a racer,so i dont know how to race and never said i do.

jeremytalon92
08-19-2007, 03:13 PM
your car wont go 150 until that turbo comes.and ebay header.surprised that thing hasen't warped yet.

Thor06
08-20-2007, 01:39 AM
Redline is not always the right time to shift. The optimal shift point is rarely at 7k and is definately not on a stock car, with the 14b and stock cams its really pointless to take it all the way out there. I think you could pull some better times if you were to test it out a bit and shift a bit earlier.

Also, top speed has got nothing to do with one's racing ability. For instance, I know a guy that could out drive either of you in AutoX and I guarantee no one will be going 150+ on an AutoX course.

I think this thread has run its course, no good can come of it now.
