( about the title i mean speed as in gears, not mazdaspeed 6 lol, just noticed how that might look confusing)

Does anyone else has trouble getting it to shift very smoothly regularly?? I have had this car for about 2-3 months now and put about 3k miles on it ( bought at 24k its at about 27k now)

now I have read the stories about the clutch shudder that a lot of 6 drivers get, but thats not the issue here ( believe me i know all of the horror stories about clutch shudder, my last car: saab 95 would rock so bad in the morning that i thought peices of the car would start comming off)

but anyway, I just find that the 6 has an insanely hard friction point to locate, and as a result you'll get the occational ( or on bad days more then occational) shift where the car will do the little rocking back and forth. usually this only happends from 1st to 2nd, and usually between 1500 and 3k rpm over that and the clutch just kind of glides in on its own.

Now I have been driving stick for a good 3 years, and as i said had this car for 3 months, and i'm used to it. I can get it into first no problem, never miss gears, never grind gears, and never burn clutch, but for the life of me i cannot get it to shift smooth every time.

Now after my long and boring story just wanted to know if anyone has the same problem or knows some tip they could share. Thanks!

P.S. pretty sure its not totally me, because I have driven a few stick cars other then this lately and i have gotten into a few of them for the first time and shifted smooth through every gear.

it's not you, it's the motor mounts.

Usually just take it into the dealership and tell them about the problem and they will get you a replacement one. But i'd suggest getting an aftermarket one from Street Unit which will eliminate his problem for good

Hmm, weird... I had taken it there and they had said the clutch was working fine. how much would an aftermarket one run me, and about how much do you think the installation would be?

It looks like they are just for the mazdaspeed 6 not Mazda 6s...

Edit: On further inspection, I can't find any mounts for 6s at all. Every list of mazda compatible motor mounts doesn't even have 6s on the list, am i looking at the wrong thing?

sorry, I meant cp-e makes motor mounts, and u would want the rubber ones, not the urethane ones since they are prone to failure.

So this should help the car shift smoother?? how hard is it to install?

The more I drive it the more I think that my feet just aren't broken into the habit of giving it enough gas before the gear engages. So the gear engages and I feel a quick pull, probabaly the lack of power of not having my foot on the gas in time. The friction point is just so much higher then i'm used to.

You can also just wind out first farther and skip second when starting from a stop.

I usually skip 3rd.
