fuel pump fuse

Hi everyone, Just thought that I would share my past few days experience with you.
Driving along and car acts like its out of fuel. Dead on side of the road...made sure there was fuel and that was ok. Busy road so I couldnt hear if the fuel pumps were working. Look at the fuse for the fuel pump and its blown. 1991 VW Jetta 1.8L, German made. It has 2 fuel pumps, one in tank and one out of tank. Disconected wire harness to the intank....turned on ignition and fuse still blew. Disconected 2nd fuel pump and once again fuse blew. Haynes manual doesnt have a wiring diagram for this car!!!!!!:screwy: Went and borrowed friends Bentley:iceslolan which is great! Found that the first O2 sensor is in the same circuit. Spoke to VW and there is a heater in the O2 sensor which has been known to short. Cut wire(middle red/white)and hey presto the car runs fine. New O2 sensor here in Canada ranges from 150-258 cdn dollars!!
Oh and VW needs 5 days to get it to me???:disappoin
