ok so I have a 2002 Chevy Malibu and right about now I hate the damn thing!!!!:banghead: On June 5th (yes 2 months ago) I was driving to work and it just all of a sudden stopped. We thought I ran out of gas so we put gas in my car and it still wouldn't work. My dad and a few others have tried to figure it out. We tried to turn the key 3 times for 10 min each and it didn't work. Now my battery keeps dieing cause we try it so much but we just jump it to get it back but it still wont work. So then my dad tried to put in a bypass system but the didnt work either. So we caved in and took it to a dealer this weekend. Ends up one of my computer wires was broken so 266 dollars later they fixed it. They started the car and all but then it died after a few min of being on. They said it could be my fuel pump which is about 600 bucks. However they said the key word i hate which is COULD. I don't want to shell out 600 bucks for something that isn't the problem. SOOO what I'm wondering is if any of you know what the heck is wrong with this stupid piece of metal that is taking up space in my driveway and money out of my pocket. Thanks a bunch in advance.

What type of engine? Any error codes?

When you turn your key to the "on" position, does the pump power up? You should be able to hear it power up and build pressure. Check the pump fuse under the hood. Also if it runs for 10-15 minutes then shuts down and doesn't start back up for a long wait, it may be your crank case sensor.

Ok well, what happends if you start the car on today then it dies leave it off overnite and try to start it the next day would it start agian or it doesn't. About the fuel pump well, does the ac work in your car. If it does well, open the hood and remove the relay of the ac and the fuel pump change them if the car stays on and doesn't shut down then it the relay. Other thing when was the last time you change the fuel filter.
