Cruise Control Problems...

All right, so I just got a 91 Celica, and it's got a few problems here and their. But hey it runs and gets me from point a to b. I'm trying to get the kinks worked out of it so here is one that's kinda got me stumped. First time that I tryed to use the cruise control it didn't work, second time it worked, and now we are back to it not working. When I hit the on/off button the cruise control pops up in my guage cluster. Then when I try and set it sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. I really would like for it to work because I have some long commutes that I would like to be able to use it for, so I'm wondering what kinds of things to look for to try and get it to work.

Check electrical connections .. particularly the control box below the dash.
