Me and my friend went to the nissan dealership to take a look at the new 350Z, you know sit in it tried to get a test drive but they were special ordered so no dice there. We start talking to the owner of the dealership and he tells us about nissans new suv looking thingy that has one gear and it's supposedly faster than a manual trans what I mean by one gear is there is no shifting just put the peddle to the metal and your off. Well to get to the point he was also telling us that Nissan is coming out with a new vehicals every 4 months and that right there is a big shoker but the even bigger shocker was that he started telling us about next years maxima and how it was getting a makeover we almost saw prototype pictures that were under heavy wrapes but they couldn't find them but when he was talking I was staring at the 350Z and I heard him say to my buddy that the maxima was getting a whole makeover wich meant new enigine and then he said whats infiniti's big sedan what, what is that he said to me and I replied the Q45 and he said yea thats what it's gonna look like for next year and it's going to have a V8 with rear wheel drive:devil: .

Oh and last time I checked the Q45 was no slowch 5.5 0-60 and a 1/4 time of 13.1 from my tests, Well Cobra Mustang "BEWARE OF THE MAXIMA".:flipa:
That's all I have to say about that.

In my motor trend the q45 is said to run a 6.5 0-60 and a 14.8 1/4 mile.

:( Sorry to disappoint you Akumamax but P is right my motortrend did a comparo of the Q against the Lex GS400 and the Lex with less than 290 hp beat the Q to 60. Quoting from memory the Lex did it in 6.4 and the Q did it in 6.5.

Again, is Nissan using bogus HP claims?

In my book 340 should stomp 290 especially if the car weigh about the same or definitely if it is less, I don't know maybe they know something we don't know, tell me what you think?

well according to the Q45 commercial it says that the Q is running 5.5 0-60 but thats not my point. Motor trend has false times because me and my buddy took his new prelude and ran it at the track, now according to motor trend it did 15.4 in the 1/4 mile and we ran 14.7 all day long we ran about five times so that just showed me of how much motor trend is incorrect with there qt.

yeah, i keep hearing 0-60 in 6.2-6.7 and 1/4 mile at 15.7 for my generation maxima, but i can get my hands on a slip that shows my car at 14.9 1/4 and a 5.89 0-60. it's all about the driver.

I'm not trying to put you down in any way or crush your dreams but 13.1 is fast. Stock ferrari's run like 12.6's i can't see a stock maxima being 1/2 second slower than a ferrari

I actually talked to the nissan guy here in Ny and he told me the maxima was going to be reddesigned for 2004. i was told either a twin turbo 6 or N/A V8. he said it would have almost 400 hp either way but i was told AWD.

In 2005 they're gonna start making supercharged 350z's. they're gonna be infiniti g35 and they're supposedly gonna call it the R35. This was just speculation from one of the 1000 car magazines i get. i think it was in Autoweek.

Akuma, I do agree that motortrend does tend to fudge the numbers especially when they do a test on BMW's, somehow they always come out faster.

Paonessa, I haven't heard any of the twin turbo stuff that you are talking about for the Max but I have heard talk about the nex Max having the same 3.5 V6 as the new Z and possibly with all wheel drive or rear drive like the G35 sedan.

But for our sakes>those of us who drive the Max, is to hope for the best a>twin turbo Max with all wheel drive sportin 445 hp or a rear wheel drive V8 sportin about 320 HP.

Just to point out that conditions, as well as geographic location and altitude, and a whole slew of other variables, make reported times a lot less reliable.
I have heard lots of talk about a redesign for 2004, but the best info I've heard is from a local Infiniti salesman who buys custom Q45's from one of the Vice Presidents of Nissan North America was that the I35 was going to be killed off. While this doesn't say anything about the Maxima, it stands to reason that if the Max/I35 moved upmarket with RWD and the Q45 powertrain, they would be strikingly similar to the new M45 performance sedan.

I agree, Skylines are the shit...you're right, it would be kind of hard to learn how to power shift southpaw
