Need info on hummers before I buy

Can anyone give me the real facts on hummer reliability ?

I am thinking of purchasing one, but don't want a vehicle that will be in the shop alot or be extremely expensive to keep running. I can afford the purchase price and I am not worried about fuel, but I am worried about not being able to keep it running.

Any advise guys ?

I will need to sell my primary vehicle to afford this hummer. I do not commute and do not put more than 12k a year on a vehicle. This however will be my primary vehicle. Is this a mistake ?

A hummer is a great investment if you can afford one. Im no salesmen ..not even close..but i have a special place in my mind set away for hummers. they are great vehicles and can go anywhere and do anything. Just a few days ago a guy at the local dealership brought his H2 to work. I went in the employee parking lot and stole some pics (i took them so it wasnt really stealing) But when he came out i asked him some ?'s. he said that fixing them wasnt really that hard. As long as you have a local dealer or someone who can fix it. And the parts arent expensive..yet they are more expensive than your normal car...no suprise there. if you crunch a front quarter panel..its not gonna be a 100 dollar fix. And the other issue he had concern for is the gas milage..but you dont seem to care about that. He said that at home he had an H1 for the winter and the H2 was his summer vehicle..so i asked him if the H1 had been the shop with many repairs. and he said that it had only been in for the routine checks and changes. he said that for the 5 years he's had it nothing has gone wrong. And he took it off roading in colorado somewhere and when he came back he had the tech's at the local dealer check and make sure it was ok and nothing broke while he was out there and they said it was just like he had bought it new and nothing was broken..

so to answer your question...they shouldnt be too much hassle to fix and they shouldnt need to be fixed unless something bizarre happens..like it rolls off a cliff..

what year/model are you getting ? if u dont mind me asking how much are you going to pay ? what do you drive now?

I am looking at buying a new H1.

I drive a 2000 Chevy Silverado Z71 LT Xcab now.

I think the H2 looks way to much like the inside of the truck I have now to suite me, or at least way to much like a Tahoe. Not that this is bad, I love my truck. I just want something more exotic.

I have an H1. It is a totally different vehicle than your silverado. If you dont do much off roading, and mostly on road driving. Be carefull. It is slow, rides hard, stops slow, and takes a while to get used to it. If you do alot of off roading GET IT! I only take mine off road. The WRX is for on road driving.

Wow man, those are some awesome picture's. And like the first person said. They aren't that much more expensive then your normal Yukon, Tahoe, Denali. But the gas mileage isn't much and repair's cost alot more than average vehicles. They are great off-road which you should already know and have decent on-road manners. They are really wide and big so they take awhile to get used too, like someone above stated.
