fuel injector

I was told by the mechanic at the Goodyear store that the number two fuel injector is leaking on my 1997 cavalier. Is this a repair an amateur like me can do. I have a repair manual but it is not real clear on the details.

I was told by a mechanic when I got my a/c checked that the number two fuel injector was leaking on my 1997 cavalier. Is this something an amateur like me can repair. I have a Haynes manual but it's a little confusing to me as there are two different fuel rails used on the base 4 cyl. engine.

If this is a 2.2L I-4, the injectors are galley-feed type. They can be removed and replaced without a lot of effort, but I would suggest getting a service manual for your vehicle so that all the details and necessary precautions and specifications are available as you undertake the project.

You'll also need a Torx driver (T-30 IIRC) to remove the fuel rail hold-down bolts, and will likely need to remove the intake plenum. The FPR actually can remain in place during the injector swap:

Thanks for the help. I removed all 4 injectors and installed new O ring seals last weekend. It took a while but went well. The car is running good and no leaks! My daughter had a quote from a local mechanic to do this work who said she also needed a new injector. They wanted over $300.00 to do it, it cost $22.00 for the seals.
