hi guys and gals. recently pulled the codes and got a tps oout of adjustment. and a 32. confused on the 32. but how the heck do i adjust the tps. do i need to remove the whole throttle body? i have a multimeter. i know it needs help caus when i floor it it bogs usually. i know this car has sack and i love the car. i need to help it. it could get better gas mileage. it has 170k, but still has balls when it goes. just not off the start. on the highway the light comes on. i love this car and really want to help it. please, any help would be awesome. long live the bowtie!

Your '91 should be a TBI system. The TPS on that is supposed to be non-adjustable. Which particular TPS error code was stored? While there may be a slight bit of slack in the TPS mounting, allowing some minor positioning adjustment, the proper method is to verify the throttle minimum air position, verify the actual TPS voltage after the adjustment is complete, and compensate with throttle position if necessary. So long as the TPS voltage is between 0.40 and 1.2VDC in the closed throttle position, the ECM should "learn" the TPS voltage when the engine is started. Because of this, the throttle should NOT be depressed when turning on the ignition or starting the engine.

hi, thanks for the reply. i was looking at it today. it doesnt look adjustable. i got a code of 22 and 32 from the computer. i havent been able to check the voltage yet, i left my meter on the last boat i worked on.it doesnt look adjustable though. yet the computer code book i have says the 22 is tps out of adjustment. maybe i just should replace. im not even sure if this has anything to do with my engine light. it comes on on the highway. i think the tps is why it bogs when i deck it, but the engine light on the highway has me baffled. the book i have has a few answers to the 32 code, egr circuit or open map sensor. im new to these sensor issues. i miss my monte ss, but love my newer caprice.

A '22' decodes as a TPS voltage too low. Verify the 5.0VC reference voltage at the TPS, and that the signal voltage is as specified.

The '32' is an EGR fault, potentially caused by a disconnected or failed EGR vacuum solenoid, or failure of the EGR to create sufficient change in the MAP signal when the EGR is commanded open.
