Can dust damage my amp?

I noticed that my MTX amp was collecting dust and was wondering if that could damage it? Would it be ok if I blew out the dust with an air compressor?

Dust on heatsinks and what not can adversely affect the cooling of any electronic device when clogged with dust or dirt, if it is dusty inside and out I would NOT recommend using an air compressor to clean it, you can get water (from the humidity in the air) and or oil (from the compressor) on your parts and risk possible damage, plus the pressure is way too high, and could litterally blow components off the circuit board rendering your device useless.

If you need to blow the dust off on the inside or out, go get that liquid air in a can for removing the dust from computers, it still has some pressure when using the nozzle straw to blow off dust but is much safer for electronics as there is no moisture or contaminants, if your amp has a fan to draw air through it to cool down the inside components, stick something non metallic like a q-tip in the fan far enough to prevent the blades from spinning, do not allow the fan blades to spin freely when cleaning it, they are not made to spin at 10,000+ RPM.
