fuel pump in tank bad

Ok--have 75 gal. fuel in tank--fuel pump needs replacing--any one replaced with elect. just outside tank??Must I remove tank etc etc???

What vehicle and please post in the appropriate forum below.

Should have added -1993 motorhome,454 engin,throttle body injection

Unless there is an access hole in the floor pan the tank must come out and an inline pump would have to to be a push pull 2 stage pump, stay with the oe installation.

Not what I wanted to hear--Looks like an "access port" in motorhome floor--May start a trend!! Thanks for info---Herb

Remove 3 9/32 screws from fuel cap housing, unplug tailights then remove 4 18mm bolts from left side of bed. Then go to the right side remove 2 intermost 18mm bolts but leave the one on the front most and rear of bed in by 2 threads(That way you dont have to pull the bed off) Lift left side of bed up far enough to wedge a jackstand between the frame and the bed. You should have no problems accessing the fuel pump with minimal help from your buddy if you can get one to help you. When complete gently raise the bed off the jackstand with left hand jerk out stand out with right hand becareful should not try if you have a bad elbow. In some cases you will need a ladyslipper or a big screwdriver to line up bed holes. This method eliminates having to beg buddies to come over and help you.:iceslolan


P.S Be sure to use assembly gel or vaseline on fuel pump o-ring or it will set a large leak code
