99 silverado transfer case rattle

Can anyone help me out or point me in the right direction? I have a 99 silverado 1500 Z71 that rattles from the transfer case upon starting and stopping. Can't really hear it while driving.

Sounds like a bolt came loose. Have you looked underneath to take a look?

Yes. It sounds like a chain against metal.

Yes you looked underneath? Did you find anything loose?

Yes I checked and found nothing loose.

Remove the rear driveshaft and grease the splines.

If it sounds like chain it is chain. The chain is loose inside the case. You will need a new one.
