The Difference

I want to give a little bit of background before asking this question. I was involved in a Motor vehicle accident in my 1992 S-10 blazer. The guy that hit me was in a 2-ton chevy van, and plowed into the back of me at atleast 55mph says the state trooper. That vehicle saved my life and i kept it for a later project, but it totaled the SUV. I have since went out and purchased a 96' s-10 4wd LS, but what i really wanted was the ZR2 model. The big minus to the ZR2 as everyone knows was that it was not offered in a 4dr model, which my 96' is. I would like to know what the difference in the suspension systems is, and if there is anyway to get the suspension of the ZR2 into my 4wd blazer. I really do wish chevy would have made the 4dr ZR2, but with or without chevy's help, im going to make mine in to the s-10 blazer ZR2 4dr that they should have made.

the ZR2 has a different frame than the regular s10. the track is wider and it sits about 2-3 inches higher than the standard s10. the mounting points are different for some components so they will not just swap over. you can get an aftermarket lift (including new shocks) to get the ZR2's 31 inch tires to fit. visually you can add the ZR2's fender flares.

Thanks man. I have already put a 3" shackel kit in the rear of my blazer, and the guy i bought it from said that all i had to do to get the 31x10.50 that the ZR2 uses is crank up the torsion bars in the front, so im pondering this idea today. Thanks for your help, i didnt realize that their frames were different. thanks again.

you could crank the torsion bars a bit but its not really a good idea. it will make ride quality worse and it will probably damage the bars over time.

Oh ok, i see know. My little brother cranked the torsion bars on my dads 88 s-10, and so far he has snapped a CV axle, and blew a rear end(probably due to his stupidity. What lifts are out there for the front end that wouldnt be to big. i wanted to keep mine for everyday street use until i get anoter vehicle. I have looked up shocks for lift kits, but i still need to get the lift from somewhere. Any suggestions for a mild lift of about 2-3" would be greatly appreciated.
