2007 trunk release issues

Hi, i have a 2007 focus with 8k on it, and lately everytime i pop the trunk with the keyless entry, or the trunk release button from inside the car, I hear this LOUD grinding noise, almost like the pop it makes when you hit the button, only continuous, really fast, and loud. The door ajar light also stays on becuase of this. anyone else have this problem? what could it be?

my 02 does the same but it makes three loud pops once you hit the button and does not release. trunk release latch is bad just haven't felt like fixing it. 8000 miles not a waranty issue?
