I just bought a 1999 accord lx coupe, stick shift, 122,000 miles, one owner, regular service check ups, no problems on the carfax lookup. Everything in great condition, regular oil changes and everything, had one done 1000 miles ago. On the way home from getting it i stop to get a quart of oil cause it was low. One quart in and it still doesnt read, 2 in, no reading, 3 in and its full. Car only holds 4.5 quarts. Possibly jiffy lube where it had its last oil change forgot to fill it up all the way?

Anyways, so i drive it home (300 miles) and i check it when i get home, the reading is at halfway, so i put half a qaurt in and its full.

Drive it 40 miles in town (minimal speeding) and now thismorning its at the bottom of the reader.

My brother and dad are both technicians and there is no smoke at ALL coming from the tailpipe, no smell, and there is absolutely no leaking, my brother put it on a car lift at work.

The air filter is clean, and the car runs quietly and at a low tempurature.

Where could this oil be going? Please help!

FIrst check 2 make sure there's no oil leak.
If there' no oil leak, check the coolant to see if it's being mixed with oil.
If that's the case, you have a bad head gasket.
If the coolant is fine, wose case is that it's being burned because of a bad piston ring gasket.
If that's the case, it's cheaper to get a new motor than rebuilding

Thanks alot, we ended up finding that it was the piston ring. We called the guy who sold it to us for $3500 and claimed that there were "no mechanical errors" and told him we were returning it, he didnt want this and we told him it would cost us 3 grand for a new motor so unless he wants to give it to us for $500 then we are going to drive it from iowa city to st. louis overnight, he agree's and i get the car for $500, now i just have to put a new motor in it. It's burning half a quart ever 100 miles or so, theres NO way he didnt know when he sold it to us...atleast he ended up righting his wrongs and giving it to us for a low price.

What a ride this has been, i'm 16 and have saved for a car for 2 years and this is my first experience with buying a car...i'm terrified of it now.

I'm glad to hear it worked out for you.
But it shouldn't cost $3K to replace a F23 motor
You can get the motor for about 500-600 and install should be no more than 600

You are right, it will not be 3,000 but i spent 500 dollars on gas throughout the whole ordeal and a years worth of stress for sure, and 50 bucks of oil.

Oh and on top of that, my brothers friend calls him tonight saying he has the same exact car as i do and today he got hit in the side and the car is totaled, but the engine is untouched and he'll sell us the car for 1000 dollars and we'll take the engine, leather seats, brakes, shocks, alloy rims, and tires off and put them on my car since all of that stuff was in mint condition.
