it says:
RMS Power @ 4 ohms: 4x55 + 1x220
RMS Power @ 2 ohms: 4x110 + 1x300

and other sites say different things, anyone have experience with it? or know how many watts i can expect for the sub channel? 300?

depends on how you wire it to your equipment.

Yes wire the sub into parallel, that will give you 2 ohms. Thats a nice little 5 channel, i have one in my girls car now.

but are those watts accurate?... or does it say 300 but really only gives 175?

It might be around 250 RMS @ 2 ohm due to the car not being a perfect 14.4V, if they tested it at that.

Mines pretty acurate. My MM75.4 tested at 249 with a dmm,@13.9v. They put out what they say. Its not pyle, or pyramid. And unlike hifonics these hit closer to there rated rms. And the 8k.5 in my girls car has the sub wired at 2ohms and with the car running, at 14.2v it has hit 300 watts. It also depends on the presets on the radio, and how you tune the amp.

But all in all autotek amps will put out what they are rated at.

Right now its a alpine type-r dual 4. Its the older one rated at 500rms. That thing hits pretty damn hard. Im getting a better sub for it soon. She wants to enter the car shows with me, so far i have built a custom enclosure with custom amp rack, and she wants a pink sub :screwy: . Im doing alot to my truck now so im going to be really busy.

I was thinking bout getting a type-r but wasn't to sure because amp is rated 300 and the sub is 500, but since you've had good luck with it I might look into it more.

Any pics of the enclosure and amp rack?

I'm putting only 400 in my Type-R and it kicks butt. It doesn't rattle the neighbors windows or anything but is plenty loud in the vehicle and that is what matters.

Its a big misunderstanding but you dont have to run rms on sub to make it pump. But it is easier to clip the amp when you do that, so proper tuning is required.

My old subs had only 75 rms to each and i was able to kick 138 db out of them.

Il get some pics soon. Right now im building my new enclosure, for 2-15"s.

the reason is that sound is on a logarithmic scale, not a linear one. If you double the power, you only get a 3 dB increase. If you double it again, you get an additional 3 dB. So the difference in playing an amp at 100 watts RMS and 400 watts RMS is only 6dB. The problem gets worse as the power increases - if your amp is 1000 watts, you need 4000 watts to get the 6 dB increase.

how noticable would 6 dB's be in a daily driver?

it would be noticable. but it depends on your ear. like to some people 6 db can be huge while others not to much since it is a DD

you'll notice a +/- 6db swing, that's the same as doubling/halving your perceived loudness...

not quite ..... 10 dB is doubling/halving your perceived loudness

I was thinking about getting an alpine type-r and running it on that amp..

1. how would that sound? better in ported or sealed?

2. I had a kicker CVR 12", and had 500 rms going to it. How much of a diference should i expect? (it was in my car, and the car was stolen)
