Last night my wife was coming home and applied brakes. She said that just before stopping the pedal went farther to the floor before stopping and the low trac light came on. Will look at brake system as soon as possible. What is this low trac light telling us.

That you have low traction.

How is this related to braking. She was on a level dry road while moderately braking. Where is the traction problem. This is obviously related to the car braking funny.

Finally had time to look at the car closer; my wife has been driving my truck. When applying the brakes and brake pedal begins to go to floor; i am hearing a clicking from under the hood like a relay. After two or three stops like this i get a light `` abs inoperable``. After this the cars brakes works fine; as if nothing has happened. Could this be one of the abs wheel sensors?

^^
dont sweat it, i have a 2000 firebird, and either when I do a hard stop, or let say there is gravel or something that will make the wheels bounce while driving, and I apply the brakes it will say the same thing: low trac, or abs inop. I would not worry about it. As a matter of fact, if you or your wife do a hard brake test (on a open area for safety) you will feel the pedal sink in like you say and right before that, it will vibrate.... that is the abs working, but I think you already knew that, but probably your wife didnt, thats why she kinda freaked out.

Ok pavement, it will do the same, on gravel or pavement, hard braking and abs coming on causes the car to have low trac thats the whole purpose of abs.
