Alternate wheel chair access

I have a 1995 Dodge Grand Caravan that is my primary mode of transportation. On occasion I provide transportation for my mother in her electric wheel chair. Since having a hydraulic lift installed is too expensive not to mention impractical for my needs I’ve decided that maybe the use of ramps to load and unload the wheel chair would most likely work best for me. The problem is that with a working weight of 300-350 lbs (Mom and Chair) and a deck height 19" on the van I have figured that the ramps would have to be around 10' long so that the chair could power it's self up the ramp and into the van. My mom was told that some company (Unknown) makes ramps that fold up for storage for such applications. I was wondering if any one had any information concerning this kind of thing :banghead: (company, details, cost and availabity) :grinyes: Thanks in advance for your help

I can't answer your specific question, but can refer you to a website where you can probably get answers. Go to http://www.wheelchairjunkie.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=forum;f=3
You can explore the website, read posts, etc. without registering, but if you wish to post you will have to register. HTH ...... --willperk

I know there are folding ramps made to load pickup beds, not sure if they would work for your van application. look at some type of farm supply store, or maybe an auto parts place could get them.
