sebring sedan with 2.7 motor shot, spun rod bearing, valves bent. anyone pulled this motor out before and have advice. looks like it will be fun. also wondering if the intrepid 2.7 is the same, I have found a wrecked intrepid i can buy today if it will fit. let me know if you have any advice or information. thanks

Got the engine out this past weekend, it isn't too bad of a project. for those who want to know, this is what i did. I removed the front bumper cover, bumper, radiator support, radiator, condenser, abs brake valve body, lower radiator support and removed the engine and transaxle by lowering down and pushing the car back so it came out the front. I am into it about 11hrs so far and am picking up a used motor out of an intrepid with 72k on it, going to change the oil pan and inspect, change front timing cover and hopefully all else will be the same. let me know if anyone has any input on the intrepid 2.7 vs the sebring 2.7. Autopsy on the sebring 2.7 showed 2 broken connecting rods, wrest pin in oil pan and broken pistons, main cap broken, crankshaft gouged, and hole in the block to a journal. will tear down further to inspect at a later date.

intrepid motors will work, they are more work though. had to change the timing cover, oil pan, fuel injectors and rail, intake manifold, valve covers, exhaust manifolds, then i ran into the problem of the power steering pump bolt holes weren't cast into the head, and neither were the alternators. Also, the intrepid motor on the Rh side, has a tab where it bolts to the transaxle, the sebring has this tab machined out to fit the transaxle, just had to make a template and grind it out. motor fit and ran for 5 minutes before knocking, so now i need to get my money back and try to find another motor.
