04 Z71 with K&N filter kit

I put a K&N filter kit on my 5.3 Silverado. The loud noise when the air enters the intake is annoying. (Most people on here have commented on the same problem).

My major problem is it seems to flood the engine when I "get on" the gas. The noise it makes makes it sound as if the truck is really moving, but it just doesn't put out the power.

Is this common? Should I have someone readjust the computer?

Put the old system back on. You will have less problems.

With the K&N it does make noise. Also the filter should be taken out of the bag and allowed to air dry for a couple days before installing it. Lots of posts about the excess oil messing up the MAF. Also you may want to disconnect the neg batt cable for about an hour so the VCM can relearn the new intake system.

I've had all that stuff on my '98 Burb and have put it back to stock with much better results than the after market stuff especially using an AC-Delco filter.

I would also suggest.
Put the K & N filter behind the rear wheel and drive over it.
Then clean your MAF sensor and put the AC delco OEM air filter set up back on it.

thanks for the input. i will probably do as ya'll say and replace the filter with the original. it actually made my fuel mileage worse. that is the only reason i installed it.

Aslo on a 5.3 always .
Take a look at the fuel pressure regulator.
Check fuel pressure and pull vacuum off and look for gas in vacuum line.

I've K&Ns on several street vehicles and never had a problem, however I've not done the entire intake, just the filter element which I spray with K&N oil. What's this soaking dripping oil messing up Mass Air Flow sensors??
