Engine Temperature Gauge Not Working???

I have a '92 ranger and the temperature gauge just stopped working. I was wondering if someone could give me a starting point. I did check the connection for the Coolant Tamperature Sensor on the front of the engine and it seemed fine. Is there a way to test the sensor? It always read on the low end, but now it's like it doesn't even seem to move. Any help would be great.

Thanks- Nelson

To check out the gauge end ground out the connector against a good ground, the gauge should go to max. By doing this you've eliminated the wiring the from the engine to the dash as well as the actual gauge itself pretty much eliminating everything but the sending unit....Mike

Make sure your checking the right sensor. There is a coolant temperature sensor and then there is the sending unit for the dahs guage which is more then likely the problem. I am not sure where the sending unit is at but the coolant temp sensor at least on my 94 2.3l is in one of the heater core hoses.
