:crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::crying::c rying::crying::crying::crying:
I'm going to lose my fucking mind. :( I can't take this shit anymore!!! I've already had midterms. They were 2 weeks ago. It sorta spanned over 2 weeks, but whatever. I had one Chem exam, 2 math exams on one day, and then a paper due that Friday. Well, I took advantage of my one professor and he was letting us turn in our papers the following Monday. And since most of us needed that time to figure out what it was that he wanted for the paper, I took advantage of the deal.
But now the shit hits the fucking fan again. I mean, WHAT THE FUCK??? I had one math exam this morning, which luckily only took me 20 mins. Then I had to meet with one of my 2 advisors which must be done before I make my schedule for next term. I have another math exam this evening. I'm really worried about it. Then there is my Chem exam on Thursday, and it's going to suck hard-core. Not to mention I have to turn in this "play card" thing which is like looking at a certain play from every possible standpoint.
I mean, I've already done the whole midterms thing this semester. Now I've got to pull it off yet again??? No fucking way!!! We have been in session since the end of August with the only break being Labor day. Thanksgiving lasts a whopping 3 fucking days plus the weekend, and that is supposed to be enough rest to last me for FINALS which come 2 weeks afterward!!! I may as well just shave my fucking head b/c it'll be less painful than pulling my hair out strand by strand!!!!!!!

FUCK!!!!
I come back from my exam, on which I can expect nothing more than a C... and I'm locked out of my fucking dorm. Not my room, but rather the whole building. It seems that some asshole male decided to dart past the check-in desk, so now in order to get into the building I have to carry my ID, which I hadn't taken with me to class.
Just chalk up another SHITTY idea to CUP!!! I hate this fucking school, and I'll be damned if I let anyone else wade through all the bullshit this place pulls off.....
:mad: :angryfire :devil: :angryfire :mad:

Take this advice from an old man who has enough degrees, certificates and diplomas to fill the wall in his office about exams...
Replicant's 10 step Guide to passing exams (aka faking it well)
[list=1]
Plan your examination time. If you have a 3 hour exam worth 100 marks then allocate 1.8 minutes per mark. So if you have 10 mark question spend no more than 18 minutes on it. If you have time at the end and only if you have answered all the other questions do you go back to finish the question. Why? It's easier to get 50% if you answer every question with some reason as opposed to answering half the questions perfectly. (see also 2)
Read the instructions carefully see also 4
Plan your answer. Firstly, write down the question - remember you are there to answer the question - ensure your answer stays relevant. Secondly, write down an introduction - by bullet points of the bits you will include in your answer - leave some room to add to the list if you think of something while answering. (this does 4 things - it shows you understand the topic. It jogs your memory. It makes you focus on replying to the question and keeping to the point of the question and not shoot off on a tangent and lastly if you don't get to actually write down about the area you wanted to write in the main part of the answer @ least you mentioned it. Finally, write a summary which repeats the introduction but emphasize you have explained the points that you noted in the introduction)
Read the instructions carefully this is very important see 2
Answer all the questions - and esp answer what the question requests. If they want a discussion discuss, illustrations/diagrams are very useful and using practical examples is good. If they ask for an example give one no matter how lame it sounds... at least you addressed the question
Multi-choice. If in doubt, it's not usually the shortest, or the longest and if you aren't sure don't answer all of the above. If you are completely lost mark c... but at least stick in an answer... 1 chance in 5 is better than no answer.
Stay calm. Study in 20 minute blocks. Take 5 mins break - deep breaths and stretch. Take a 10 mins after every 3 blocks of 20 mins to walk. On the day of the exam, get there early so you aren't stressed getting there on time.
Eat and sleep well. Vitamins and fruit are good. Drink plenty of water and walk or exercise during day otherwise you find it hard to get restful sleep. Stay away from caffeine esp after 3pm in the afternoon.
DON'T STUDY IN BED. This is an absolute no-no! Beds are for sleeping and making love in. You need to associate bed with these two activities not study. This conditions your mind and body to start the rest process when you get into bed.
Please remember read the instructions carefully. Seriously, it's a very stressful time for lots of young people and older grey-hairs like me too. Don't lose your perspective, it is important and you need to work hard but you need to have some mindless time for the brain and body to relax... throw a frisbee round... walk the dog... make sure you chill too...
Good luck...

or you could jsut suffer from above average intelligence and waltz your way through the exam on your own brilliance.
But then fail the paper becasue your so damn lazy your forgot to do any course work.
Every uni suffers from all sorts of the problems Tangi, and no matter where you go you will never escape them.
Quite simply if you want a degree you have to become part of the system.

B.S. doesn't work on Math exams. :( I can wade my way through a B.S. paper (as I have a B.S. in B.S.) but it's damn near impossible to fake what you're doing on a math, or chem exam, for that matter.
And this is now my third School since High School, and believe me, this place is a shithole. I would rather deal with a Community College and that is saying quite a lot. This place lies, constantly misinforms, or better yet, does things with ABSOLUTELY NO explanation at all!!!!
i.e. The reason all the dorms are on lock down??? The story from my friend who is a desk attendant: A man darted past the sign in desk with a gun. How nice!!!

As a dual degreed working stiff and possessor of several more certificates then I wish I actually had let me make an observation. You’ll need to learn to deal with the stress before anything else. You’ll find that working for a living will provide just as many stressful situations as you’ll find in college. Especially if you plan on pushing your way to the top, you’ll encounter the lazy, stupid, unmotivated, cruel and the cutthroats. How you deal with that stress and keep your cool will go a long way in helping yourself out.
I used to stress much like you are when I was in college all those years ago and I was the same way for several years at work. I wish I could bottle the second that the shit just didn’t get to me anymore. It’s like a wave of relief. I’m just as big a pain in the ass to everyone else as I used to be, but I don’t let the shit get to me like I used to. My advice is to work on refocusing the stress in some way so you’re not tempted to grow an eye twitch. Since I am not a consultant, I can’t tell you how. I can only tell you that the frustrations only grow through life.

The stresses of a teacher aren't quite the same as that of a business person... I know the stresses of an elementary teacher VERY well, and that is largely why I'm going for secondary ed.
I just have good days, and really really bad days. I'm pretty sure everyone has guessed which one yesterday was. I was part of a survey not so long ago which concluded that I was definately showing some strong signs of depression. Naturally I didn't care to do anything about the idea. I'm beginning to worry and wonder if I should. :o

Have a quiet word with a person who understands depression sometime....the hardest part about dealing with it is finding the courage to seek help.

It's not always that bad... I'm about 3 credits shy of a Junior now, so I'm getting into the concentration in my major, and in order to get into the Ed program I have to maintain atleast a 3.0 in my major, and a 2.8 combined major and ed/free electives. It just adds that much more pressure to the load.
Not to mention that I put far more stress upon myself than I ought to.
Things are better this week, and next week only consists of Monday since I don't have classes on Tuesdays anyway.
