So it all started with what sounded like the blinker on all the time. I cleaned off all the muck in the steering column and clicking is gone thank god, but now my horn dosent work. I changed the fuse and relay still no horn. The second problem is when my fuel gauge gets to about 1/4 tank it does whatever it wants. It will move between empty and a full tank. I also have an ABS problem. Whenever I turn the corner (mostly leaving a parking lot) ABS and track off lights come on. I went to the dealer awhile back and they ran diags but found nothing wrong. The last issue is with my stereo. The display will go in and out. Sometimes it looks like bits and pieces of numbers so I cant tell what time it is, and the sound does whatever it wants. It will get loud then fade. I was going to replace the stereo but was told that it can cause the airbags to stop working! Is this true? Any ideas on where to start? Thanks runaround :banghead:

Welcome to AF.
Sounds like you have some issues.
The horn probly isnt working because the clock spring(CS) wasnt put back in right,
thiers and index mark on it.
If its not installed correctly it can break the CS and you'll need a new one.
See here (http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=702900&page=4&highlight=clock+spring) , someone else with the same problem.
With the GAS level, the gas float is bad and needs replaced.
If any service lights are on it'll need scanned,
I dont see why the stealership didnt find any ABS codes :dunno:
Your stereo is typical, just like the fuel level and ABS thing,
thier not much you can do but replace it.
If you replace the stereo with an aftermarket air bags will work...
If you have steering wheel controls you'll need an extra wiring harness for those,
or if you want your chimes to work you'll need to buy a module from the dealer for that.
Might find one on ebay.
Good Luck

Xeroinfinity,
The clockspring is used to provide power to the SRS system. If not installed or reset properly it will break, but it will cause an airbag light to come on.
Venus,
Underneath the horn pad there are contacts for the horn switch which may not be connected properly. However, to access those contacts, you'll need to disable the SRS system to avoid airbag deployment. Best left to a shop unless you have access to the information.

And your point is........
I believe the same thing was said above :disappoin:
Sorry Kemi, but your post is just redundant as venus1 asked why his horn wasnt working and he's done had it all apart, so I see no need for a "shop" at this time.
Its pretty cut and dry....
But thankx for your opinion :D

Xeroinfinity,
My apologies, I see I misread your post, so yes my post was redundant. I had a long day yesterday.

You can just replace the sending unit, that is what is bad, and causing the fuel gauge not to work properly. No you can purchase just the sending unit, but I'm sure that you can get the float with it too, the price is like $89 dollars or so. When the wife's Chevy pickup fuel pump went out. I had the pump replace, which also fixed the her fuel gauge not working correctly. That put me back almost $800 dollars. :2cents:

I can't find the sending units sold seperate any where. it's all a packaged deal(fuel pump sending unit float). around $200.00 at rock auto and closer to $280.00 at autozone. :banghead:
