glue question

ok last night i noticed that one of my subs was sounding like butt all of a sudden. so i turn the subs off and i go to the trunk to see what is up and the glue that holds the rubber flap that is around the cone that attaches to the basket. no longer was holding together. so i am wondering what kind of glue should i use to glue it back on.i am thinking either a hot glue gun or rubber cement.

CA glue or some stuff i just got the other day LOCTITE Epoxy it is resin and hardner in the seperate tubes but it applys at the same time
only takes 3 minutes to complete

why is the glue coming off ?

i wanna say from the heat because the temp has been in the 90 and the feels like temp is in like 102 so inside of a car it probelly got around 120 inside. that might be my guess. and what is CA glue

one would think that car stereo equpiment is designed to deal with heat in a car.

yea i found it odd too. i even went as far to find out that the type s series from alpine had a problem where the glue didn't bond right so they recalled it but nothing like that i found for the type r's

Could be quality issues. Alpiene is a pretty big mass producer of equipment nowadays. Not saying theyre cheap, but they probably dont have the best quality control anymore. CA- cyanoacrylate adhesive. basically very strong super glue. Hobby shops carry it.

Another thing you could try is gorilla glue that is sold in most auto parts stores. It's like super glue but alot stronger and more heat resistant.

that is what i wound up getting. luckly i had a bucket that was 11" in diameter so when i put the glue on i flipped the sub on the bucket and the bucket lined up right on the rubber flap that i needed to glue back on. so i used the sub's weight as the clamp.

you know i actually never knew what that stood for lol
but that stuff is very tuff and when you get it and the activator on you it gets HOT!

That didn't sound like a good thing to do, if that sub was a little off balance you could risk the possibility of throwing the VC out of alignment.

how? the way that told me that it should be is out is that it looked excatly like an inverted mounted sub.

I think what AWP is getting at is, if you flip the sub over while the glue is drying it might be very difficult to get the cone lined up just perfect before you set it on the trash can lid. Perphaps you could have centered the cone, then flipped the trash can upside down and put it on top. Put a few bricks on it to help press it down.

thats kinda of what i did.i put the bucket on while the sub was upright to aline it then i flippedit was a whole.
