Are the $20 short shifters on ebay any good? If not what are some good ones?

I know fishcat37 has one in his crx (which he might have sold by now, who knows) but one of the key things to remember when getting a short shifter is to get some bushings also cause your stock ones are probably really worn.

I got a dc sports on mine and it works pretty well. If you gonna get a short shifter go with dc, skunk 2 or b & m. :)

anyone hear anything about Neuspeed Short Shifters? I'm thinking about getting one because I know a place I can get it for about 30 bucks cheaper than anyother place I have seen.

I have a Hurst, it's awesome, I like the fact that a Shelby Cobra, GTO, TA66 Trans Am, and my car all have the same shifter!

Yeh, Melt I still have my "Type-R" short shifter in the bumblebee. I think that i got it from www.autodynamic.com (their shipping takes fucken forever tho). I got it for around $20......for what I paid I like it. I hate the fucken transmission that it's hooked up to, tho;) :p Like mellowboy said, DC, skunk2, or B&M.....you'll definately get a shorter throw w/ one of those name brands. I'm just a cheap-ass bastard and wanted a shorter throw than stock....plus that little "Type-R" decal on the shifter that the shift boot is covering is just so cooool;) :p

Does anyone recommend getting the bearing along with the short shifter? My shifter goes real far to either side and i dunno if just new bushings will fix that. I just ordered some so we'll see how they work.

cutting the top of your shifter off actually makes your throw longer because you have less leverage. a short throw shifter is longer under the pivot point, not shorter above the pivot point.
if you want to be ghetto and actually have a real short throw shifter, take your stock shifter and cut it in half below the pivot point. then weld in something to extend the bottom half (i've found that a 1/2" socket works pretty well heh). tada, with this method you can make your throw as short as you want but it will wear more on the tranny.

I agree. Its that ball joint that makes the difference not the length of the stick.:)

imo none of the short shifters are worth a damn unless u purchase all of the urethane bushings with them and for gods sake do not i repeat do not buy the arospeed roboshifter shure its cool for about a day, u can make the thro so short that all u have to do is tap the clutch and it will pop back into 2nd and 4th tap it forward for 3rd and 5th but it breaks easy ur ur a power shifting kida person or u wanna drop a gear hard i broke mine in 3 places, i think they would be great for a drag only application.

Hey MyFirst4G- You're shift knob looks really similar to my cheapy "Type-R" Gunmetal shift knob:p
http://www.imagemagician.com/images/fishcat37/P1010040.JPG
There are 3 things that suck about having a metal shift knob:
1. In cold weather, the shift knob is FUCKING COLD...and it is painful to touch:(
2. In hot weather, the shift knob is FUCKING HOT...and it is painful to touch:( :p
3. When you are racing, and your hands are a little sweaty, you can slip off the shift knob on a hard shift  It kinda sucks. I am not getting another metal shift knob.
Yours looks bad ass, tho....is that like a brushed nickel....or some kinda of brushed metal finish?

Hey, i diddt get to install my short shifter yet, but i put on this shift knob, and first of all, this shift knob is heavy as a mother fuker..... and for some reason, i shift so much better, it just feals so different, and this texture doesnt seam to slippery, but it is metal, but its kinda a brushed metal or something, but its sweet! I wouldn't have bought the type-R one! i was thinkin about it cause it loooks so damn similar, but i heard about how heavy the knob is and how it works together with the shifter...... so i said hey, spend a lil more and get the real shit! i dun want anything but good stuff on this car, rice was on the DX!! i've moved on...... ;)
